For
those with an adventurous spirit and the time to spare:
Book an Underground Tour of a working Diamond Mine at least
two weeks prior to your intended visit.
Size of group:
minimum 4 and maximum 40 persons.
Tour days:
From Mondays to Saturdays.

Sharp
at Cullinan Tourism and History Depot (just off Oak
Avenue) for orientation and light refreshments and changing
into the special safety gear.
Visitors are conveyed to the mine at 08:40.
At the lamp room visitors are also provided with Sizamiya
self rescue packs and shown how to use such a pack.
The cage goes down at 09:00 (sharp) to level 763 meters,
under the big hole of Cullinan and comes up at 11:45.
Visitors then have the opportunity to view the cutting,
polishing of rough diamonds and to buy jewellery at Cullinan

The cage goes down at 12:00 and comes up at 14:00.
Exit through the Diamond Hub where Cullinan Diamonds sells
diamonds, precious and semi precious jewellery and through
glass windows, view the cutting and polishing of diamonds
(weekdays only) by "previously disadvantaged"
local people. This is the only place in the world where
one may see a diamond mine, a cutting and polishing facility
and jewellery market all in one.
Duration
of tour:
Please allow 4.5 - 5 hours for this once in a lifetime
experience. We recommend this tour to the physically fit
persons.
Age restriction:
16 years and older.
Visitors
are provided with Safety gear from head to toe for the
underground tour of the Mine.
Cullinan Tourism also provide immaculate, secure and comfortable
changing rooms.
Please supply the size of shoes and of clothes when you
reserve a place on this tour.
Those who so wish may buy their overalls as a souvenir.
Temperature underground is a comfortable
28 degrees C

The
Diamond Safari Motorized Surface Tour of Cullinan Mine is
also available weather conditions permitting.
Visitors are taken in a special vehicle into the red areas
(never before seen), up to 800 metres onto the highest mine
dumps and taken for a rare view of "The Beach"
from the wall of the slimes dam.
Visitors,
however, may not leave the tour vehicle.
(Can't have cheeky little diamonds form an attachment
to so many soles.)

A
guided tour of McHardy House, the first house built in the
village in 1903
See the Murals painted by POWs about 1943 and other heritage
sites in and around Cullinan Village.
Visitors
are taken to the rarely seen such as the Prisoner of War
cemetery, the old hospital and the old mine campongs,
etc.

Only place for 5 lucky people.
Tours for larger groups can be arranged by prior booking

the old Electrical Workshop.
Open seven days a week.
Also watch a 30min. DVD "The Pictorial History of Cullinan
and Premier Diamond Mine"
Our curator has a gift for making the history and heritage
of old Cullinan come alive.
Entrance is free but donations are always appreciated.

GAME
DRIVES - WINDY BROW NATURE RESERVE OR PREMIER GAME FARM |

A
Game Drive on Windy Brow Nature Reserve and hiking trails
(3.5km outside Cullinan on R513) or Premier Game Farm.
This 2000 Ha farm provides a diverse ecology and collection
of indigenous fauna and flora.
It is also home to Big Girl, Little Boy and Princess Danielle,
three of the well-loved white Rhino personalities.
Game to be seen are, Sable, Tsessebe, Eland, Giraffe, Wildebeest
and Waterbuck to name but a few. Also many bird species
for the avid bird watcher.
Game drive vehicles for Groups of 4 and up to 20 go out
with a guide and the tracker Daniel who insure a truly memorable
bush experience.
Tours are available any time from 09:00 to 15:30 on weekends
or 08:00 during weekdays and please dress warmly during
winter. Allow at least 2 hours for a game drive.
